Comparative table of Oxford School levels according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
To ensure that students are placed in classes appropriate to their level and age group, an initial assessment is made by means of a written test and an oral interview.
The student can choose to complete each of these levels in Annual Courses or Intensive Courses.
The main differences between the two are as follows:
- The Annual Courses run from October to June, and payment is also monthly. The weekly workload is less than that of the Intensive Courses, but overall these courses have more hours, allowing for more conversation and more repetition of the same type of exercises than the Intensive Courses.
- The Intensive Courses usually run for three months, with 4 to 6 hours per week. They are usually designed for students who need to learn more quickly. These courses have fewer hours than the Annual Courses and the content, although the same, is given in a more concentrated way.
At the end of each course, students receive a certificate stating the type of course attended, its duration and the final level achieved.

The Oxford School uses a fully teacher-assisted method of teaching, either face-to-face or online, to emphasise the oral aspect of communication without neglecting the other language skills, which include lexical, phonological and syntactic knowledge and skills.
Direct contact with the teacher and the simulation of real-life situations allow students to speak from the start without the need for translation.
Language structures are taught naturally and progressively. The teacher uses as little theoretical explanation as possible. Students are encouraged to learn the rules through examples and are encouraged to take an active part in the learning process.
The course programmes are structured according to the different levels of education and with the aim of preparing students for the official exams of the various European universities, whose language diplomas are internationally recognised. The Oxford School is proud of its 90% success rate in international examinations.
The quality of our teachers, combined with the informal and relaxed atmosphere of our classes, provide the ideal conditions for fun and effective learning.

Oxford School prepares its students for the following exams:
English
B2 First (FCE)
The B2 First, also known as the First Certificate in English (FCE), is an intermediate-high level qualification. It demonstrates that you can use English in everyday situations, both orally and in writing, for work or study purposes.
C1 Advanced (CAE)
The demand for high-level qualifications in the English language is increasing worldwide. This exam, C1 Advanced, also known as the Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), meets this need, certifying and awarding a C1 level.
C2 Proficiency (CPE)
The Certificate of Proficiency in English, also known as the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), is the most advanced qualification. It proves that you have reached an extremely high level in English.
IELTS
The IELTS – International English Language Testing System – is the most popular English language test. It is developed by some of the leading experts in linguistics assessment and evaluates all your English skills – reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
IELTS is accepted by over 11,000 organizations in more than 140 countries. These organizations include governments, academic institutions, and employers, with 3,000 in the USA alone.
TOEIC
The TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) is a test geared towards professionals and businesses. The TOEIC Exam is currently divided into two tests, one that assesses receptive skills (reading and listening comprehension) and one that assesses English production (speaking and writing). Students can choose to take both tests or just one, depending on their needs. Each test has its unique structure, and the scoring system is also different.
TOEFL
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is an academic English test primarily taken by students applying to universities in the United States of America. TOEFL is also accepted as proof of English proficiency by some universities outside the US. TOEFL actually comprises a series of tests, with the most popular being the TOEFL iBT.
At the end of each course, our students receive a certificate that verifies the level achieved according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
These certificates include the type of course, duration, grade, the level attended, and the level achieved.
As Oxford School is a school recognized by the Ministry of Education, these certificates are official and have curricular validity.
