Languages Taught

In groups: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and Portuguese as a Second Language;

In private lessons: All main European languages.

Although English is by far the most popular language we teach, Oxford School has a team of carefully chosen teachers of other languages, all of them native speakers, with proven experience in teaching foreign students.
Teaching Method

Oxford School uses traditional teacher-student teaching methods, putting great emphasis on oral sociolinguistic communication as well as lexical, phonological and syntactic knowledge.

Direct contact with the teacher and simulating real-life situations allow the student, from day one, to speak without the need to resort to translation. The teaching of structural elements of the language is natural and progressive. The teacher relies as little as possible on theoretical explanations. Students are encouraged to work out rules for themselves through examples and are given confidence to participate actively in the learning process.

The course contents are structured to meet the needs of the different levels we teach, with a view to preparing students to take official, internationally-recognised exams set by numerous European universities. Our 90% pass-rate for these exams is a sign of our success.

The quality of our teachers along with the informal relaxed atmosphere of the lessons ensure that learning is fun and effective.

Have fun learning at Oxford School!
Teaching Levels

The courses at Oxford School are organised into 8 different levels adapted to students’ knowledge. They are structured in accordance with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Level 1 is aimed at absolute beginners and level 8 is for students with a level of proficiency close to that of a native speaker.

In order to ensure students are correctly placed in classes corresponding not only to their knowledge, but also to their age range, each student takes a placement test involving both a written and spoken evaluation.

Having completed their course, each student receives a certificate which contains the type of course attended, its length and the final result. The number of hours estimated to complete each level is 60 up to and including level 5 and 100 for levels 6 and above.
